NPTG is looking for a director for our upcoming April play Harvey. If interested please contact the NPTG board of directors at nptg.org@gmail.com

Picture Elwood P. Dowd is an affable man who claims to have an unseen (and presumably imaginary) friend Harvey — whom Elwood describes as a six-foot, one-and-one-half-inch tall pooka resembling an anthropomorphic rabbit. Elwood introduces Harvey to everyone he meets. His social-climbing sister, Veta, increasingly finds his eccentric behavior embarrassing. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her and her daughter Myrtle Mae from future embarrassment.

When they arrive at the sanitarium, a comedy of errors ensues. The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. When Elwood shows up at the sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems that the mild-mannered Elwood's delusion has had a strange influence on the staff, including sanitarium director Dr. Chumley and his medical partner Dr. Sanderson. Only just before Elwood is to be given an injection that will make him into a "perfectly normal human being, and you know what bastards they are!" (in the words of a taxi cab driver who has become involved in the proceedings) does Veta realize that she'd rather have Elwood the same as he's always been — carefree and kind — even if it means living with Harvey.-Wikipedia

Great Opening, But Back to Work! We Need YOUR Help!

Dear NPTG Members and Friends,

We had a great weekend celebrating our Grand Opening at the New Players Theatre Guild Center For The Performing Arts!  We had a great show, that was well received, the cast had a blast and we had a support staff assembled that couldn't be beat!

It WAS GREAT!  (Revel in that for a minute and wait for it..)  But we are just out of the starting gate!

The lights hadn't cooled down, before a rehearsal for, "The Sunshine Boys," was on.

We really want to keep NPTGlee going.  We have auditions for, "Amahl," in a few weeks.  When "Amahl and the Night Visitors," is done, we'll be right into the Cabaret!  We would really like help the Fitchburg Theater Company in any way we can with their productions as well.  They have already been a great help to NPTG.

What I am getting to is that WE NEED YOUR HELP!  It's time to put more of the, "community," into NPTG!  You need not want to be on stage or even know much of anything about stagecraft.  If you are willing to help, you will get all the support you need to learn.

Nearly immediately, we need support personel for, "Sunshine Boys."

We need a producer, stage manager, stage hands, publicity help, house managers, ushers, ticket managers, people to help with set construction, lighting and perhaps sound.

Up until now, all of this stuff has been handled by a, "core" or 10-15 people and they can't do it all; but they would be willing to help more people learn and take part in the joy of doing what we do.

Nancy and Bill may be involved with, "Amahl."  Would someone be interested in helping NPTGlee carry on during their absence?

Please think about what YOU can do, or want to learn more about..  You can all do something that will help and I can pretty much guarantee you will enjoy being more of a part of NPTG.

If you can help with, "Sunshine Boys," drop me a note ASAP!

If you think you can contribute in any of the other ways I've mentioned, e-mail me, along with any questions you might have.

Thanks for your time!!  Please think about it.  WE NEED YOU!

Thanks to all that worked so hard to make the ribbon cutting and open house a rousing success!

Thanks also, to all that attended!  You've renewed our faith that the community is behind us!
